In April of 2009, Colin and I traveled to Japan in search of creative inspiration (and good ramen). We were interested in creating some Japan-themed apps for the iPhone and felt that a visit would be just the ticket for kick-starting the idea process. Now, over a year later, the stars are finally aligning for us to get started. And since our trip, Apple has announced and released the iPad, making some of our previously impractical ideas a good fit for this new device.
While traveling in Japan, you can’t help but be charmed by the people and culture. I continue to be inspired by the Japanese appreciation of the little things we so often overlook. Even the most ordinary and mundane objects have been lovingly and carefully crafted; or rethought in some surprising way. Being in a place that puts value and importance in these things helped me remember how important it is to me as well.
Over next few weeks we will be posting about our creative and production processes as we develop our latest title: Sakura Dreams.
More to come…
